Why this domain name?

When we first discussed renal transplant with my physician, Marek and I became determined to harness all my resources to find me a kidney. This can be a particular challenge if you're a private person, and I realized that others may face the same challenge.

In choosing this domain name, we realized that this website may be able to help other folks who face this challenge, as well as myself. At nckidney.com, we want to connect kidney donors with individuals in need on a longer-term basis than just my own immediate needs. I understand the difficulty of breaking a privacy barrier to ask folks for a kidney or for them to distribute information for me.

I am committed to helping as many people as possible. I have decided to give this website to the next person in North Carolina who is in search of a kidney, once I receive my kidney. By passing on the website, I hope to continue the cycle of giving and potentially save even more lives.
